Links are connections between web site files and different web sites. If you click on a link with your mouse cursor, the link will take you directly to another file or web site. If the link is connected to a word, the word will almost always be underlined and a different color from the rest of the text.
However, not all underlined words are links and not all links are underlined words. Underlined words that do not cause your cursor to change to the gloved hand with the pointing finger are not links. Links may be made from anything on the page. If you look at some of the photos of our lab activities, you will see that the "thumbnail" pictures are all linked to larger versions of the same picture.
