OBJECTIVE -The objective of this project is to design and manufacture a rubber band powered car that will travel, under its own power, at least 5 m (16 feet, 8 inches) within a rectangular space of 1 m x 5 m. |
PROJECT GUIDELINES
1. Read the INDEPENDENT PROJECT GENERAL GUIDELINES first. 2. Complete a project design form and get it signed by your science teacher. 3. Cars must be powered by one or more rubber bands. 4. Three trials will be allowed with the best of the three taken for your score; 5. There are no restrictions on building materials or size except that the car - may not be powered by rubber tubing or elastic cargo straps (bungee cords). - must run on at least 3 wheels; - may not be made from a "kit" and may not be made from construction set parts (Legos® parts, Erector®set parts, etc,) except for .propeller(s), gears, axles and wheels. 6. You must successfully demonstrate the car to your class to receive full credit. 7. See the Grading Criteria for how you can earn an A+.* |
