Only DC electricity of less than 5 amperes & 15 volts is permitted. » - » You may not copy another student's design for your project (except for bridges & towers). | OBJECTIVE - The objective of this project is to design and manufacture a mouse trap powered car that will travel, under its own power, at least 5 m (16feet, 8inches) within a rectangular space of approximately 1 m x 5 m.. |
| PROJECT GUIDELINES
1. Read the INDEPENDENT PROJECT GENERAL GUIDELINES first. 2. Complete a project design form and get it signed by your science teacher. 3. Cars must be propeller or wheel driven with power for the propeller(s) or drive wheel(s) being supplied by the mouse trap(s); 4. Three trials will be allowed with the best of the three taken for your score; 5. There are no restrictions on building materials or size except that the car - must be powered by one or more mouse traps; - must run on at least 3 wheels; - may not be made from a "kit"; - may not be made from construction set parts (Legos® parts, Erector® set parts, etc,) except for propeller(s), gears, axles and wheels. 6. You must successfully demonstrate the car to your class to receive full credit. 7. See the Grading Criteria for how you can earn an A+.* Note:A single rat trap may be used, but the minimum distance for a score of 100% will be increased to 7 m (23 feet, 4 inches). |
